Camping Beau Rivage is located at the foot of the Cévennes National Park. Since 2011, the Cévennes have been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In this impressive region, you will find beautiful hiking areas with valleys, high plateaus, spectacular viewpoints, deep river gorges and authentic villages.
The Cévennes are known for their rugged mountains, clear rivers and peaceful atmosphere. For nature lovers, active holidaymakers and families, the Cévennes are an ideal holiday destination. Here you can enjoy wide open spaces, fresh mountain air and landscapes that look different every day.
The landscape of the Cévennes is remarkably diverse. In the south, wooded hills and deep gorges dominate, while further north open plateaus and rugged mountain areas shape the scenery. Thanks to these differences in altitude, the region has several climate zones, resulting in a rich diversity of flora and fauna. Chestnut forests, oak trees and pine woods alternate with herb-rich grasslands. Wildflowers grow in the valleys, while eagles, vultures, deer and wild boar live in the higher areas.
The Cévennes are a true paradise for cycling enthusiasts. You will discover a network of quiet roads, mountain passes and panoramic routes. Whether you prefer a relaxed ride or a sporty challenge, you will find routes to suit every level.
You cycle through forests, along rivers and over mountain ridges with breathtaking views. Along the way, you pass through small French villages where time seems to stand still. Thanks to the low traffic, many roads are quiet and safe, making cycling especially enjoyable.
In addition, there are many signposted cycling routes for road bikes, gravel bikes and mountain bikes.
The famous Gorges du Tarn offer stunning scenery and are perfect for family day trips. On the way, you will pass picturesque villages where you can enjoy lunch on a terrace or taste local products.
Our campsite is just under an hour’s drive from Lozère, the greenest and quietest department in France. Here you will find no mass tourism, but endless walking trails, wide views and peace and quiet.
Mont Aigoual is one of the highest mountains in the Cévennes and a popular destination for a day trip. At the summit you will find a unique weather station, and on clear days you can enjoy views all the way to the Mediterranean Sea. The road to the top is beautiful and suitable for cars, motorcyclists and cyclists alike.
What may define the Cévennes most of all is their ability to slow you down. Here you learn to look again: at light filtering through the leaves, at kingfishers flashing blue along the Tarn, at clouds casting shadows over Lozère. It is a region you do not just pass through, but one in which you lose yourself – and unexpectedly find yourself too.
